Tips and tricks for your fancy wedding cake – The trends for 2021!

In our blog post about the new-modern candy bar , it was already indicated that the trends in the world of wedding cakes have changed and evolved. Many bakeries and confectioneries in Berlin are also receiving a breath of fresh air these days.

Classic

Although the classic wedding cake is always timeless and modern, the absolutely individually designed wedding cake, which is made only for the bride and groom, is becoming increasingly popular. The tried-and-tested, typical German strawberry heart from the bakery opposite is also receding more and more into the background.

Nowadays, hardly any bridal couple opts for an “off-the-peg cake”, which usually resembles the cake of the other couples. Unthinkable – for many couples this is a real faux pas! Since the presentation and cutting of the cake is one of the highlights at every wedding , usually accompanied by music and fireworks fountains, the work of art must impress the wedding guests and reflect the bride and groom as well as possible. Be it by means of an extraordinary, sensational cake topper, a special choice of colour and colour combination that adapts to the overall concept of the wedding decoration . There are no limits to making a wedding cake unusual. Novel shapes can also be developed with the help of eye-catching decorations. More and more often, a logo is also designed for the wedding, which can be depicted on the cake in a wide variety of variants and variations.

The trend is moving away from traditional ingredients, so that the good old marzipan is also being pushed further and further into the background. The art of cake modelling, which originated in America, is increasingly being used. Using light sugar stocks and icing masses, confectioners can create unique decorations that otherwise only found their way onto the cake made of plastic. Candied or caramelized, edible and real flowers are also increasingly in demand at weddings as romantic cake decorations.

But the absolute cake trend, which was decisive for the emergence of candy bars, among other things, is vintage cakes. Kept in pastel colours, decorated with flowers and sugar pearls, they are fairytale eye-catchers at every wedding celebration that radiate their very own charm. Most of the time, the creations are smaller and thus leave a lot of room for various other delicacies, which can be presented in a visually impressive way at a candy bar.

Alternatives

If these unusual desserts don’t appeal to you yet, you are welcome to be inspired by another trend: decorate your cake with so-called “ruffles”, i.e. ruffles or ruffles, or design the colour scheme in “ombre style”. This gives the cake a colour scheme that merges into each other. There are no limits to the choice of colours – from white to pink to pink and purple. Otherwise monotonous yellow in different brightness levels and color intensities also has a great effect. At this point, you can let your imagination run wild.
